Frequently Asked Questions

What is Avyarth Commons?

Avyarth Commons is a public knowledge base for animal welfare. We organize and share verified information about animal care, local resources (like vets and NGOs), laws, and practical guides—all in one accessible place. Think of it as a "Wikipedia" for local animal welfare.

Does this only cover Bhopal?

While our current focus and the majority of our directory data are centered around **Bhopal**, the guides, animal laws, and learning resources are applicable across India. We hope to expand the directories to other cities through community participation soon.

Is Avyarth Commons an NGO?

**No.** We don't conduct rescues, operate shelters, or collect donations for ourselves. We are an information layer. By keeping data up-to-date, we help rescuers, rescuers, and individual feeders save time and lives.

How do I find a vet or NGO near me?

Our specialized directories allow you to filter results based on category and location. Visit the Veterinarian Directory or the NGO Directory to see listings with verified contact numbers and addresses.

I need emergency help for an animal. Can you help?

**We cannot provide emergency assistance directly.** If you have found an injured animal:

• Consult our First Aid Guide for immediate steps.
• Contact the nearest Vet or professional rescue group.
• Reach out to the local community in your area via WhatsApp rescue groups.

How do I report animal abuse?

Animal cruelty is a punishable offense under Indian law. Please see our Report Abuse guide for instructions on documentation, and visit our Animal Laws page to understand the PCA Act and IPC sections involved.

How do I add a new listing?

You can contribute by Sign-up to create an account. Once logged in, you can submit new Veterinarians, NGOs, Shelters, or Fosters to the directory. Every submission is reviewed for accuracy before it goes live.

What are Impact Points and Levels?

To recognize our most active contributors, we have a gamified system. Every approved submission or verified update earns you **Impact Points**. As you earn points, you level up:

Can I write educational content for the site?

Yes! If you are a veterinarian, animal behaviorist, or experienced rescuer, we would love to have you author guides for our Learn section. Please get in touch with our team.

Is the information verified?

Yes. We take verification seriously. Every listing in our directories goes through a multi-step check (phone call, cross-referencing with official documents, or community feedback) before being marked as verified.

I am thinking about adopting a pet. Where do I start?

Adoption is a life-long commitment. We recommend reading our Pet Adoption Guide which covers everything from readiness checklists to understanding the legalities of an adoption agreement.

Is my personal data safe?
