Community Feeding

Hunger is the immediate crisis for street animals. Feeding is the first step to trust.

Feeding a stray dog

Core Rules

  • Fixed Spot: Feed away from gates and traffic.
  • Fixed Time: Late night or early morning is safest.
  • Water First: Dehydration kills faster than hunger.

What to Feed

  • Dogs: Rice + Curd (No sugar), Boiled Egg, Dog Food.
  • Cats: Whiskas/Royal Canin (Wet food is best), Boiled Chicken (No bones).
  • Never Feed: Ambien, Chocolate, Grapes, Onions, Milk (for adults).

Fostering

A foster home bridges the gap between rescue and adoption. It literally saves lives.

Why Foster?

Shelters are overcrowded and stressful. A home environment helps animals recover faster and get socialized.

Commitment Levels:

  • Emergency Foster (2-3 days): Keeping an animal safe until a spot opens up.
  • Medical Foster (2-4 weeks): Nursing an injury or post-op recovery.
  • Adoption Foster (Indefinite): Keeping them until they find a forever family.

Tips

  • Isolate fosters from your own pets initially.
  • Ask the NGO/Rescuer for food & medical expenses coverage (most will agree).
  • Be prepared to say goodbye (it's the hardest part).
